Puppy Grooming Specialists
Our groomers truly love dogs, and they love it even more when the dogs love them back! We know that many dogs don't get the opportunity to have a positive introduction to grooming, and go through their lives finding it stressful. We want to make it easy for you to bring your pup during the critical socialization period that happens between 8-16 weeks of age. That's why we offer unlimited free drop-in nail trims for puppies and Puppy Splash visits for as low as $23.
What's Included:
During a Puppy Splash visit, your puppy will enjoy a relaxing aromatherapy bath, an introduction to blow drying, and 20 minutes of desensitization to the grooming table, tools, and handling. If your puppy is at ease, we happily include ear cleaning, nail trimming, and light trimming around the eyes, feet, and sanitary areas at no extra charge. Our primary goal, however, is to build a great grooming experience, always prioritizing your puppy's comfort above all else.
Who It's For:
This specialized service is only available for puppies under 4 months. If your pup is beyond that threshold, give us a call, and we'd be delighted to discuss alternative options to introduce them to grooming.
Why So Young?
We understand that 4 months may seem young, but just like children, puppies go through crucial developmental phases. Around 4-6 months old, pups enter a fear period, where new experiences can become daunting. The Puppy Splash program is strategically timed before this fear period, allowing your puppy to familiarize themselves with grooming. By exposing them to grooming at a young age, we aim to create a positive association, ensuring they grow up comfortable and confident during their Spaw days.
Why So Often?
Dogs are incredibly intelligent and adaptable creatures. To ensure a positive attitude towards grooming, we focus on building a "reinforcement history" during their Splash visits. This means rewarding them multiple times during new experiences. The more rewards they associate with grooming, the more positively they'll view it! Regular visits are key to solidifying these positive associations. We recommend no more than one week between visits to ensure your puppy remembers their last visit clearly and can continue to build confidence in each session.
What are the Benefits?
Grooming involves various elements that can be challenging for many dogs. From car rides to new places, their family leaving them behind, and meeting new people, to encountering various tools, handling, and sensations – it can be overwhelming, especially for a dog that isn’t accustomed to it! Our Puppy Splash Program helps puppies acclimate to these experiences during a critical socialization period. Weekly visits create a familiarity with the grooming environment, making it a regular and positive part of their routine.
Puppies who participate in our program don't see grooming as a series of unfamiliar events. Instead, they view it as a regular part of life (and an opportunity for lots of treats and praise!)
