Scent work training for your dog

What is Scent Work? The sport of detection! We use fun and interactive methods to teach your dog how to detect an odour from around the room. We will work with you to teach your furry friend how to sniff out a specific odour from anywhere!

Scent Work is a positive, challenging activity that allows dogs the opportunity to use their strongest natural sense in a way that’s fun, engaging, and that builds and strengthens a foundation of trust between the handler and dog. Your dog can learn scent training just for fun or for official sport competitions. One of the main benefits of Scent Work is its accessibility – virtually any dog (regardless of age, size or breed) can participate. Yes, even your dog reactive pup can join! Each dog will have the classroom to themselves while they learn how this new skill.

An exciting mental and physical outlet for you both, we guarantee that you and you dog will quickly become addicted to this fun and exciting sport!


Scent Work Training

Reactive and fearful dogs are welcome! All teams work one at a time (max 5 dogs per class).

Scent Work Level 1 “Lets Go Sniff!" - $295

A fun and interactive way to work with your dog. The sport of scent work focuses on building trust and new skills  for you and your dog as you both learn how to become a sport detection team! Scent work not only gives your dog a job but is and challenging and fantastic way to teach your dog how to focus around distraction as they learn to use their nose, their strongest natural sense, to its full capabilities! 

This 7 week program includes:

  • 1 hour zoom webinar 

  • 6 in person 1 hour classes on site at our training facility. If you have a dog that can be reactive or sensitive towards other dogs, don’t worry! They will get the classroom to themselves while they are learning their new skills.

Scent Work Level 2 “The Super Sniffer” - $245

Designed for graduates of our Scent Work Level One “Lets Go Sniff” class… level two “The Super Sniffer" takes your handling skills and your dogs search skills and abilities to the next level! 

This 6 week program includes:

  • 6 in person 1 hour classes on site at our training facility

Rally obedience

$225 for 6 weeks

Rally obedience is a sport designed to help improve your foundation basic obedience skills and to have some fun with your dog! 

During our 6 weeks together our instructor will coach you through the ins and out of this fun sport and guide you and your dog through some new skills in an encouraging and upbeat environment as you learn to work as a team. Rally Obedience takes your physical obedience skills to the next level and is a terrific way to help build a working relationship with your dog, to learn to better communicate with your dog and to set your dog up for success with essential day to day life skills all while having fun! This class has been designed for beginners and those interested in the sport! 

*Your dog should be comfortable and successful with sit, down, stay and some loose leash walking for optimal success in this class. No Reactive dogs please.

Meet the trainer

Jaime Knowles

CMDT, DIP CBST, CPDT-KA, Karen Pryor Puppy Start Right Certified 

Dogs: Atty, Guinness, Teddy, Dozer

Jaime has always had a love and understanding of all animals, but a special place in her heart has always belonged to dogs. She has been professionally training and handling all breeds and temperaments of dogs since 1998. She attends ongoing seminars and is constantly updating her education to broaden her knowledge of dog training as she believes you never stop learning when working with animals.

While competing in CKC obedience and conformation Jaime has earned titles on several breeds of dogs. She has trained and handled dogs for television and major motion pictures. Her own dog Atty has obtained her IPO BH title, PSA PDC-SD and PDC title and was a validated patrol and narcotic detection K9.

Jaime is a validated explosive detection K9 handler, validated narcotics detection K9 handler and a validated security patrol K9 handler through the Justice Institute of BC. She has vast experience raising and training both detection and patrol dogs. She is currently one of the senior trainers at Pacific Northwest Kennels, a facility that specializes in training working dogs and professional canine handlers.

Jaime was a proud member, trainer and handler with Canines 4 Care team at Vancouver General Hospital where a program that trains dogs to detect C. difficile with high accuracy was developed.  The program was awarded the Top Innovation award for 2018 at BC Health Care Awards.

Currently Jaime shares her life with Atty (Belgian Malinios), Dozer (Pitbull x), Guinness (GSD x ACD), Teddy (all Canadian mutt).
